Tile/ Painting/ Door Install

posted Feb 5, 2012, 1:01 PM by Randy Harward   [ updated Mar 21, 2012, 5:21 PM ]

Description Of Work:
2 exterior doors replaced; exterior siding wood rot repaired (including a rear garage door not initially noticed); repaired/replaced/repainted exterior front railing; power washed and hand painted exterior of brick front two story house with 2 coats Sherman Williams paint, including doors/shutters/trim; replaced 10x10 sun room floor with porcelain tile

Randy's company to install 2 exterior doors with that.  He also gave us quotes on wood rot repair to exterior siding and front railings, installing a new porcelain tile floor in the sunroom, and exterior house painting.  The pricing was very reasonable (lower than another estimate), and they did the job in the time estimated which was pretty fast (although were delayed a little starting due to weather). The workmen were polite and cleaned up the area after the job was done. They applied additional workers to finish the job up on schedule·They did have to come back and fix up a few minor things (they took care of this pretty quickly after the job was completed and after they had already been paid)· We were pleased with the painting job and tiling.  The carpentry repair work was excellent.

We supplied the doors, tile and grout, so these are not included in the pricing.

R. Harward Construction built an attached garage with a 700 sq. foot bonus room above the garage. They put a new roof on the entire house, installed bamboo and tile floors, painted exterior garage and interior. They built a laundry room upstairs and did all electrical work.
We had been looking for a builder for months through research and word of mouth. We heard about Randy from a friend who just had work done by him.  He came highly recommended and we were impressed with his experience and ideas from the first meeting with him.  We had an attached garage with a bonus room built.  He made excellent suggestions on the floor plan and he made himself available with any questions or issues with the building process since this was our first experience with such a big project.  He took care of every aspect of the building process and guided us through it.  His construction crew also put on a new roof, installed bamboo and tile floors, painted the exterior garage and interior and built a laundry room upstairs.  The entire crew was always respectful, professional and provided quality work.  We definitely recommend R Harward Construction and plan to call him for all of our future projects.

Removed old siding, and roofing and replaced siding with Hardy Board added new shutters and outside lights
replaced roofing and installed new gutters
Replaced all decaying wood around house
Removed old Deck and built a beautiful all Weather Room with catheral ceiling , installed heating , air and electric
Installed ceiling fan and recessed lighting , tiled the floor and painted  wall and trim
Added a brick and concrete handicap ramp and porch with steps and metal railing
Graded yard added topsoil and planted grass

We called Randy for a third estimate at the recommendation from a friend for which he had done work. He came at the appointed time , very polite and asked detailed questions about what we wanted and came back in about 3 days with an estimate. We thought the estimate was very fair and honest so we told him to go ahead with the job.  He wrote up the detailed contract with a progressive payment plan. Randy and his team started working  soon after. This was in July . First they started removing the deck and then the 2 layers of old siding and hauled it away, as they removed one wall of siding they started installing the new siding. Mean while they dug the footings for the new room and bricked in the foundation. From there the frame, roof , windows, electricity, heating and air, walls, tile, trim, paint and we have a finished room, while this was going on a brick and concrete ramp and small porch were built and our old roof was replaced, gutters added and new shutters. This whole process took approximately 4 months. WE ARE VERY  HAPPY WITH THE FINISHED PROJECT AND WILL CALL RANDY AND HIS CREW FOR ANY FUTURE REMODELING OR REPAIR.

Gregory Bartow Flooring

Randy's team replaced the flooring throughout my home with 12mm wood laminate and color-body porcelain tile. He coordinated this project with 2 material suppliers Randy also custom-designed and built a large entertainment center into my family room, based on my inputs. The entertainment center included wood, glass, electrical outlets, dimmable xenon and spot lighting, stereo and satellite TV connections. Randy listened carefully to ensure that my needs were met.

Randy's team moved the furniture between rooms and removed the old wall-to-wall carpeting, vinyl and baseboards. They installed 12mm wood laminate everywhere except the kitchen and bathrooms. In those places, they installed color-body porcelain tile, matching grouting and sealant. I asked them to also put the wood laminate on all horizontal and vertical stairway surfaces. I was very pleased with the craftsmanship they displayed in refinishing the stair sides. The original house builder had been sloppy with the stair surfaces, because the original builder had just put carpet over their original mistakes. Randy's team were very skillful in how they overcame the original construction flaws. Randy sketched out a draft model of the entertainment center exactly to scale on thin wood, based upon my input, combined with his vision for how this could look. This design approach made it easier for me to try out different sizing and shapes for this large built-in. That was very impressive, not only because of Randy's craftsmanship, but also due to the large size of the design sketch on thin wood and for his concern that I be happy with every aspect of the finished product. He built the entertainment on-site from wood, custom-made glass, xenon lighting, spot lighting, dimmable switches, electrical, audio, and satellite TV outlets. Randy carefully inspected the finished work and ensured that I was completely satisfied.

We wanted a wall between the kitchen and den moved over 2ft.  They removed the existing wall, framed and dry walled the new wall.  Moved the the electrical outlets
We were very satisfied with the whole experience.  They arrived when they said they would.  They continuously kept us updated on the progress and any problems encountered.  The whole crew was very polite and well-mannered.    The best was Harward  worked us in between jobs and several vacations schedules.  The new wall was to transform the den into a home office and we wanted done before school let out.  Given the short notice we didn't think anyone would be able to met this schedule.  Harward did.  We will be using Harward again.  And have already requested a quote to redo the flooring in our kitchen.
